Odiham Cottage Hospital

Supporting the Cottage Hospital

As part of the agreement reached to save the hospital from closure, OCHRE has agreed to contribute towards the cost of providing clinical services to the hospital. Hampshire Primary Care Trust agrees in return, that it will continue to use the beds at the hospital to provide care for local NHS patients. OCHRE is currently required to contribute a sum of approximately £90,000 per annum.

All of this money is raised by charitable means.

There are several ways in which you can help.

  1. By sending a donation

  2. Donations (cash or cheques, CAF cheques - made payable to OCHRE) may be sent to OCHRE at the hospital - visit the Contact Us page for details.
Gifts from individuals may qualify for gift aid, whereby OCHRE can reclaim an additional 28% of the gift from the Inland Revenue at no cost to the donor. 3. By starting a regular giving scheme

  4. This is perhaps the most valuable form of help that any charity can receive as it provides a certainty of income that enables OCHRE to plan to meet its commitments. Regular giving schemes will attract gift aid from qualifying donors, thereby increasing the gift by 28%. To download a Banker's Order and Gift Aid Declaration Form as a PDF file please click here. Alternatively many employers operate "Give as You Earn" schemes, which are very tax efficient.
  5. By remembering OCHRE in your will

  6. You may be considering amending your will, by adding a codicil, or writing a new will. After providing for your loved ones you may wish to consider charitable giving - you could help ensure that this hospital can continue to care for NHS patients. Bequests are normally added to OCHRE's endowment fund to help support the future of the hospital.
  7. By supporting an equipment purchase

  8. Very often groups of individuals, clubs, charitable trusts etc. may prefer to have their gift associated with the purchase of an item. Hospitals don't just need clinical equipment to function though, we also operate a fully equipped kitchen!
  9. By making a gift to the endowment fund

  10. OCHRE has established an endowment fund to provide investment income that will support the long term running costs of the hospital. You may like your gift to be used for this purpose.
  11. By donating shares

  12. In the Finance Bill of 2000 the Labour government introduced new legislation that attached significant tax advantages to donating shares, or selling shares at less than market value, to charities. These arrangements are simple to put in place and OCHRE already has experience of both schemes. If you would like to discuss these options further please contact the Secretary at the hospital on 01256 393603.
  13. By supporting the League of Friends
