What is OCHRE?
Odiham Cottage Hospital Redevelopment Trust is the registered charity (number 1068721) that was set up in 1998 as part of the campaign to save the hospital from closure.
Its founding Chairman, Mr John Stancliffe, had been a supporter of the hospital for many years and led the negotiations whereby an agreement with the North and Mid Hampshire Health Authority and Loddon NHS Trust was reached for the future of the hospital.
The agreement had three parts:
- The community agreed to purchase the hospital from the NHS for the sum of £245,000 in June 1998.
- The community agreed to refurbish and modernise the hospital. This work was carried out in 1999 and cost a further £400,000.
- The community agreed to contribute towards the annual clinical running costs of the hospital. Today the hospital's clinical services are provided by Hampshire Primary Care Trust (BVH) and OCHRE contributes some £90,000 per annum towards the total cost.

Message from the Chairman
"Thank you for your interest in Odiham Cottage Hospital. We are truly proud of the successful community venture that this hospital has proved to be. From the beginning local people have supported this hospital generously and with loyal commitment. This has enabled us to continue to develop and enhance the hospital's facilities so that the clinicians can provide first class medical care to all their patients. The Trustees, staff and supporters of the hospital will continue to work hard to ensure that the doors of the hospital remain open to local NHS patients, for many years to come. We hope that you will join us."
